Stagnation by Genesis (w/ Peter Gabriel) [The Daily Vinyl music video #23]

Great Review Stagnation by Genesis (w/ Peter Gabriel) [The Daily Vinyl music video #23] Video

The Daily Vinyl video #23: "Stagnation" by Genesis (w/ Peter Gabriel). Now that GENESIS has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, check out a song from their 1970 masterpiece "Tresspass". This is a VERY different GENESIS. This is before Phil Collins was the singer. Before Phil even was the drummer! ("What? Phil Collins wasn't the original drummer?" A: Nope.) They were five 20-year-olds exploring their 12-string guitars and early keyboards. Peter Gabriel was the lead singer and his voice is as strong as ever! "Stagnation" is the first song on Side 2 of their 2nd full-length album called "Trespass." This album is magical. It has recently been remixed and released on CD w/ a 5-1 DVD mix. More magic. Sometimes just ducks being fed didn't feel like enough. Although, as you will see, I used some tasty-full-ness. Oh, and don't wait for a sing-along chorus. It's not a pop song. Although the closing instrumental melody starting around 7 has been a mainstay in medleys (specifically "I Know What I Like") even up 'til their reunion tour in 2007. I hope you enjoy the video and maybe appreciate this song from a band with a deep and fascinating history.
